tgs Announces the Largest Investment in History for a Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) Project in Argentina

Within the framework of Argentina Week in New York, the Company presented the “NGLs Project.” With an approximate investment of $3 billion USD, it marks the largest investment in the country’s history for a liquids processing development.

The NGLs Project will be the largest in the region and aims to industrialize natural gas liquids associated with hydrocarbon production through the development of processing, transport, fractionation, and export infrastructure. tgs has already signed agreements with several of the main operators in Vaca Muerta and is in advanced negotiations with other companies.

Marcelo Mindlin, Chairman of Pampa Energía, a co-controlling company of tgs, stated: “Argentina hasn’t completed a liquids processing project in over 25 years, and this is the largest of its kind in history. It is a key investment to resolve one of the bottlenecks that could limit Vaca Muerta’s development and consolidate the country’s export leap.” He added: “With strategic projects like this, tgs and its shareholders are demonstrating their commitment, investing so that Argentina’s enormous energy potential transforms into growth, exports, and development for the country.”

Marcelo Sielecki, representing the Sielecki family (co-controllers of tgs), affirmed: “The NGLs Project is a central initiative within our long-term vision. Carrying it out will allow us to consolidate a large-scale project with a positive impact on the trade balance and the country’s energy and industrial development.”

Oscar Sardi, CEO of tgs, noted: “We are driving a strategic investment of great relevance for Argentina’s energy development, which will span four provinces with an execution period of 45 months. Our priority is the socio-economic impact, as we estimate the creation of 4,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs, strengthening local employment.” He further added: “This investment will generate $1.2 billion USD in annual exports, consolidating a genuine source of foreign currency and reaffirming our responsibility in strengthening the country’s productive infrastructure.”

The project includes new Gas Processing facilities at our Tratayén Plant; the construction of a multi-product pipeline (poliducto) between Tratayén and Bahía Blanca; a fractionation plant; and a product storage plant in Bahía Blanca, as well as complementary works at the maritime terminal for export. This is a key project to strengthen Argentina’s position in regional and international energy markets.

In the coming stages, tgs will continue working on the technical, environmental, regulatory, and economic aspects of the project, in accordance with the corresponding approval processes.
